Jim graduated from Doyle cosmetology school in 1976, while Laurie graduated from Marjon cosmetology in 1975. They both worked in salons in the Williamsville area for 5 and 6 years before establishing Mane Street Haircutters in 1982; remaining at the same location, 6814 Main Street,in Williamsville for 38 years.
Jim and Laurie have two wonderful sons, Jim and Darren. Jim is a graduate of University of Cortland receiving his teaching certification for Physical and Health Education and also studied at Buffalo State College to receive his Masters Degree in Special Education. He is a Physical Education teacher for the Iroquois School District. Darren is a graduate from University of Buffalo in which he studied business. He works for Amazon in Seattle.We welcome our daughter-in-law Carleara, Jim's amazing wife, Carleara is a Research Scientist for the University of Buffalo. Jim and Laurie also have a new addition to the family, an adorable Golden Doodle named Rosie. Jim and Laurie’s most proud accomplishment is establishing a thriving business to create jobs and employ hair stylists in the Buffalo area. They have created an atmosphere of fun; emphasizing genuine, and caring relationships with their clients, while still maintaining expertise hair styling and hair care needs. Jim and Laurie attribute their success on being surrounded by a fabulous community of people, talented stylists, and the attitude of never taking their business for granted. Jim and Laurie express, “Today is just like the first day we opened in 1982. We work hard with long hours, treat clients like we would want to be treated, and keep current and up to date in hair fashions, techniques, and products that the hair industry provides.” "We give thanks to the community for providing the best clients in Western New York." |
